eLearning

We can use technology to enhance learning. We need to remember that there are other avenues for learning. If we use all avenues we can maximise our ability to learn well.

Blogs for Education

Blogs can be very useful for teaching particularly young people. People who feel comfortable with computers and technology are likely to use Blogs and interact with others more using Blogs or other Web 2.0 applications. They appear to find this interaction more stimulating than personal contact. The number of people who virtually 'live' on Facebook is quite high. This seems to be a sign of the times.

Using blogs to help with teaching

Teaching has moved a long way from the classroom with the teacher standing at the front of the room in front of the blackboard with piece of chalk in one hand for teaching and a ruler in the other for disciplining any unruliness.
I guess that for a start when we create some physical distance between the educator and the student, there will at least be less temptation or need to provide the form of discipline practised in the distant past. This can only have a positive impact on students.
Students are now born into a world full of technology. They will need to be familiar with all aspects of modern technology, and be able to advance their knowledge in areas as yet unknown if they are going to be able to function effectively in the workplace of the future.
Using Blogs to inform students, invite discussion, enable collaboration and learn from each other, will help students to move toward that workplace.
